Nor-Son Inc. Build well. Be well.

Big Fork Valley Hospital

The hospital remained fully operational while we built a major addition and remodeled key areas.

We were determined to retrofit the old to the new in any way possible. We even built a small tunnel to connect the pre-existing mechanical room to the new addition.

Keeping comfort levels steady.

Disruption avoidance was a primary concern with our Big Fork Valley Hospital project. Their systems had to remain open and fully functional to deliver the kind of high-quality care that staff and patients had come to expect.

For example, we needed to add a second radiology room near an existing CT scanner. During construction, it was discovered that the new room did not possess the necessary head clearance. So we came up with a solution that raised the roof to meet code, allowing us to finish new construction while keeping the CT scanner operational and unaffected. Throughout the process, our infection control procedures ensured that no contamination resulted from our construction.

Finding solid ground to build on.

We were challenged by a succession of poor soil conditions. Since the hospital is located by the Big Fork River, our crews were greeted by soil that was mostly clay. Construction was further impacted by the discovery of a natural spring. Water continued to be a factor as 13 inches of rain flooded the site. To resolve our soil problems, we imported crushed rock that provided a firmer base for the addition's new foundation.
